Our names are John and Jimmie. We were married in November 1962 in a Presbyterian church in Allen Park, Michigan. We have been members of this church since shortly after moving here in 1973. Both of us grew up in the church, Jimmie as a Methodist and John as a Presbyterian.
When we moved to Dunedin we found St. Andrews under the leadership of then-pastor Joe Holder. St. Andrews has always played such an important part of our life. Jimmie was baptized as an adult at St. Andrews. Both of us have always felt close to the people here. Over the years, we have played, served, worshipped, laughed and cried together. Just like family. In the nearly 35 years we've been here, friends have come and gone, but we have always found this place to be warm and inviting and filled with friendly people who love the Lord. That is important to us.
Through the years, the church has changed, but one things has remained the same: the church has always been committed to worshipping and serving the Lord. Like the Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." While Christ never changes, the church does and has. We have to admit that we like the traditional approach to worship, but still regularly attend the contemporary style. We have found that in both places we can express our love for God and hear God's word for us.
We have a great church that is open to all generations and will be here for many generations to come. Stop by sometime and see for yourself. The two of us will be looking for you.
