Become a Christian

If you come to this web site longing for something of God—a blessing, a word, an action—but have never truly known God in an intimate, personal way, God may be preparing you for something important.

"Becoming" a Christian for you may be simply accepting what already is.

you acknowledge that you have failed to honor God with your life and you need mercy from God.
you know that your sins are serious and deserve judgment
you believe that Jesus was sent by God to deal with your sins
you trust in Jesus as your only means of salvation and desire to place him at the center of your life

If you already acknowledge these realities, you are already a Christian. Well done! If not, however, and feel like it is high time to get this part of your life in order, you may want to pray the following prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner deserving God’s punishment. I am sorry for my sins. I really am. I believe that you took my sins upon the cross and died in my place. I open the door of my life to you. Live in my heart and help me know you better. Thank you for forgiving my sins, saving me, and helping me to obey you. Amen.

This is not a magical incantation. The words only have meaning as they reflect what is true in your heart. Here's the best part of being a Christian:

Your sins are forgiven (see Colossians 1:14). Think about your worst sin. It will be as if it never happened.
You become a child of God (see John 1:12). God embraces and loves you like a perfect parent.
You receive eternal life with God (see John 1:12). The abundant life begins now and lasts forever. It is good.
You begin the great adventure for which God created you (see John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:18). Time to really live.

Finally, we strongly suggest you FIND A CHURCH in which to publicly accept and profess your faith in Jesus Christ. If you are in the Dunedin area, come to worship on Sundays, or come by the church office during the week and ask for one of the pastors, directors or an elder.
